The bottom line is that Mushkpuri had long been intended to be tracked, but time was never available and no one was ever willing to go along. Whenever the time came, Mushkpuri track would be left behind in the cycle of a bigger trip.
Something has happened so far that we have decided to do the Mushkpuri track twice this year, God willing. For the first time in the snowy season to enjoy snow trekking. And the second time between June and August so that you can enjoy the full vegetation in the same place.
Given the opportunity this weekend, we decided to go snow trekking. I contacted a few friends to accompany me and each one of them successfully succumbed (maybe even dodge). Instead of being frustrated, we decided to go it alone.
When a friend got the news, he inquired if there was any head injury or if the fever had not reached the brain that it can be tracked alone. It would be foolish to think so. Etc. etc. Mushkpuri top weather
Mushkpuriis the second highest peak in the Murree and Galyat area after Miran Jani. Its height is 2800 meters. In winter, snow trekking can be enjoyed with the help of snow, while in summer, this trek is full of greenery and vegetation. Mushk Puri is located on the right side of the road, almost between Donga Gali and Nathiagali. To reach it, two tracks go from Donga Gali, while one track goes from Nathiagali. The track from Donga Gali is a bit shorter but more steep, while the track from Nathiagli is a bit longer but less steep.
We chose the Nathiagli route to the top and postponed the return route to the top. However, after going there, we tracked the return route through Donga Gali. After reaching Donga Gali on foot, they reached the parking lot at Nathiagali and after that the return journey started (and ended).
It takes one and a half to two hours to travel from Nathiagli to Mushkpuri Top. These days the whole road is covered with snow. There is definitely fatigue along the way but all the grief is gone when you reach the top. The enchanting and paradise-like views of the surroundings at the top are magnificent.

The real name of this place is Mukeshpuri. It is a Sanskrit word, which means ‘place of salvation’, but this place is named after the famous Mushkpuri.
The place is said to be sacred to Hindus, as are the numerous mythological legends attributed to the mountains and valleys. According to a tradition (about which not much can be said with certainty), the place is associated with Pandava, the main character of the Hindu religious book Mahabharata, who used to come here for relaxation. The Mahabharata has a total of five heroes, namely Pandos, who are also called ‘Panj Pir’, so in some traditions it is also called ‘Pando da Sthan’, meaning ‘place of Pando’.
Now this is a Hindu religious tradition, but the well-known historian Ali Jan explains the significance of this place.
The return journey was very easy, no hard work was required. It was as if steps were being taken automatically, but one thing was acutely realized that the biggest role in the completion of this adventure was ‘just 20 minutes’. If all those who came down had not worn the ’20 Minute’ hat, we would probably have returned in the middle. Mushkpuri Top Track
Remembering these things, reminiscing fondly, the tired thief we all walked more than half way and after a short drive we reached the bottom and took shelter in a restaurant on Donga Gali, where we enjoyed the chicken frying pan and teak. It’s getting late. Mushkpuri Top distance from Islamabad
